Genetic improvement occurs when young dogs chosen as parents of the next generation of puppies are genetically superior to the parents that produced them. In his presentation, Dr. Leighton will describe how service dog organizations can organize their data in a central database. Once data are organized, it can next be converted into information by calculating estimated breeding values for the important traits that need to be genetically improved.
